Debbie and I started our cooking careers when we were 13 years old at Hildebrands Coffee Shop in Hermann. Harold, the owner, taught us how to make large quantities of food from scratch. Stella Kruse made all the pies, and showed us how to make pie crusts. The trick is in the cold water she always told us. We now make 100’s of pies a month for retail places such as Sugar Mommas in Hermann.
I (Theresa) later worked at Moose’s Bar & Restaurant on the weekends cooking breakfasts. I later worked at Vintage 1847 for 1 ½ years for Gary & Debbie Buckler, and after that at the Concert Hall Barrell & Bar on weekends and evenings for 3 years. After 22 years at an automotive factory I quit to do catering and make pies full time.
Debbie later worked at Laboube’s Bakery. The bakery was owned by her brother Dale & sister in law Janet. She enjoyed making all the great tasting confectionaries. She had also did cooking at home for her younger brother and parents on the farm. Several years later Debbie joined me at the Concert Hall & Barrell Bar. She had also worked at the automotive factory for over 30 years.
Classmates since kindergarten, we enjoy cooking for all different kinds of events such as weddings, birthday, anniversary & dinner party celebrations or funerals to name a few.
